Lifetime Smiles has been serving the special needs community in the Tampa Bay area for almost twenty years. Dr. Donato began treating patients with special needs under the auspices of former practice owner William J. Gill, D.D.S. In 2005, when Dr. Donato purchased the practice, he continued to cultivate his expertise in this aspect of dentistry and established a second office in Sarasota in 2007.

It is with great pride that Dr. Donato continues to provide this valuable service for patients with mental, physical and developmental challenges. Challenges including – but not limited to – Adult Cystic Fibrosis, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down’s Syndrome, Brain and Spinal Cord injuries as well as any medically compromised patient with mental, physical and behavioral disabilities.

The staff of Lifetime Smiles is fully trained to care for these individuals who may have difficulty receiving dental treatment in a traditional environment. In this case, we are equipped and qualified to offer oral sedation or IV sedation (twilight sleep) in the office. If the patient’s medical, dental or behavioral condition dictates, Dr. Donato is on the staff of Tampa General Hospital and Sarasota Memorial Hospital and can treat the patient in the hospital with the benefit of general anesthesia.

We are currently listed with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) as a registered dentist for the Developmental Disability (DD) waiver. We treat patients who currently receive funding through this program as well as those who receive benefits through the Consumer Directed Care (CDC) program.
